Ecolab Taicang Becomes First Chemical Enterprise in China to Receive AWS Platinum Certification

(Nengdong News, January 21, 2022) Recently, Ecolab (Taicang) Technology Co., Ltd.—a key production base of Ecolab Group—successfully passed the audit conducted by TÜV Rheinland, a third-party inspection, testing, and certification body based in Germany, and was awarded the AWS (Alliance for Water Stewardship) Platinum Certification. This makes Ecolab Taicang the first chemical enterprise in China to receive AWS Platinum Certification. Simultaneously, Ecolab Taicang was selected for the inaugural list of “Enterprise Standard Pacesetters for Sustainable Water Resource Management,” compiled by the China National Institute of Standardization. This fully demonstrates Ecolab’s proactive efforts to exert positive influence on water resource management and further consolidates Ecolab’s position as a global leader in water treatment. The AWS International Alliance for Water Stewardship is a global membership-based collaborative organization comprising enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and public-sector entities. Its members advance, recognize, and reward sound water stewardship performance by adopting and promoting a common framework for sustainable water use—the International Standard for Sustainable Water Stewardship, or the AWS Standard—thereby contributing to the sustainability of local water resources.

What is the AWS Sustainable Water Management Certification?

The Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), founded in 2008, has established the AWS Standard—a globally recognized international benchmark system for evaluating the sustainability of water resource management. Through engagement of all relevant stakeholders, the AWS Standard guides actions at both the site and watershed levels to achieve socially and culturally equitable, environmentally sustainable, and economically beneficial development and utilization of water resources. It applies broadly across industries and institutions that use water, enabling international benchmarking. AWS certification not only helps enterprises strengthen their water resource management, reduce water consumption, and improve water-use efficiency, but also publicly demonstrates their commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. TÜV Rheinland’s Related Services As an AWS Global Partner, TÜV Rheinland is currently the sole third-party organization authorized to conduct AWS certification in Greater China, and has been delivering AWS standard certification services in China for many years. Leveraging its leading technical capabilities and extensive auditing experience, TÜV Rheinland is committed to helping enterprises continuously enhance their sustainable water resource management practices, actively driving improvements in water stewardship performance across supply chains, achieving sustainable water balance, and thereby encouraging more enterprises and stakeholders to join the effort to protect water resources.
