TikTok Shop UK Updates Seller Fulfillment and Performance Policies On October 28, TikTok Shop UK announced that updates to its seller fulfillment and performance policies will take effect starting November 4. These updates primarily involve further refinement of existing terms. Regarding order fulfillment, TikTok will strengthen its Late Dispatch Rate (LDR) assessment—defining late dispatch as failure to complete the "Ready to Ship" status within two business days after order creation—and will introduce the Valid Tracking Rate (VTR), requiring over 95% of orders to have accurate and verifiable tracking numbers. 9. Hong Kong International Airport Handles Over 3.59 Million Tons of Cargo in First Three Quarters On October 28, it was reported that Hong Kong International Airport handled 414,000 tons of cargo in September, up 10.2% year-on-year from 376,000 tons in September 2023. Official data shows inbound cargo volume increased by 3% to 109,000 tons, while outbound cargo (transshipment and exports) rose by 13% to 305,000 tons. Over the past 12 months, total cargo handled increased by 15.9% to 4.82 million tons, and outbound cargo volume grew by 22.3% to 3.54 million tons. In September 2024, freighter flight movements increased by 8.8% to 6,455; cumulative movements since April 2024 rose by 11.5% to 38,840; and annualized movements over the past 12 months rose by 12.3% to 76,765. In the first three quarters of this year, cargo volume increased by 15.7% year-on-year, exceeding 3.59 million tons. 10. New Operational Model for Air Export Cargo at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport On October 28, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Customs, based on actual regulatory requirements, revised its "Notice on Implementing a Rapid Clearance Model for Air Export Cargo at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Customs." Effective November 1, 2024, air export cargo destined for direct shipment overseas via Guangzhou Baiyun Airport will be eligible for the rapid clearance model upon advance customs declaration. The operational workflow is as follows: advance customs declaration, cargo vehicle entry through checkpoint, cargo arrival and rapid classification, and rapid customs clearance. 11. Hapag-Lloyd Raises Full-Year 2024 Earnings Outlook On October 28, Hapag-Lloyd announced another upward revision of its full-year 2024 earnings outlook and released preliminary unaudited financial results for the first three quarters of 2024. According to preliminary unaudited data, Hapag-Lloyd achieved an EBITDA of approximately USD 3.6 billion in the first three quarters of 2024, down 20.00% year-on-year; and EBIT of approximately USD 1.9 billion, down 36.67% year-on-year.

Hapag-Lloyd raises full-year outlook due to stronger-than-expected demand

International shipping company Hapag-Lloyd raised its full-year 2024 profit forecast on Thursday, citing stronger-than-expected demand and rising freight rates. Although re-routing vessels around the Cape of Good Hope has increased costs, Hapag-Lloyd now expects its 2024 EBITDA to range between USD 4.6 billion and USD 5.0 billion—up from its previous guidance of USD 3.5 billion to USD 4.6 billion. However, Hapag-Lloyd cautioned that significant uncertainty remains surrounding this forecast, given high volatility in freight rates and major geopolitical challenges. Since the end of last year, attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea by Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen have forced carriers to divert routes away from the Suez Canal onto longer voyages around Africa. A Hapag-Lloyd spokesperson noted: "Transit times are significantly longer, which is why we need more capacity—and must purchase additional capacity." Nonetheless, demand remains relatively strong, while capacity remains scarce—or continues to be scarce.
