Italy is located in southern Europe, encompassing the entire Italian Peninsula as well as islands such as Sicily and Sardinia. To the north, it shares land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia; to the east, south, and west, it is bordered by seas—the Adriatic Sea, the Ionian Sea, and the Tyrrhenian Sea—each part of the Mediterranean Sea. Italy covers a total area of 301,000 square kilometers—roughly equivalent to twice the size of China’s Shandong Province—and has a population of approximately 60 million. In recent years, Italy’s primary challenges have been sluggish economic growth and an aging population. Population aging and slow economic growth are common issues faced by many countries. Giorgia Meloni was born in Rome in 1977 and raised by her mother in a low-income neighborhood. She graduated from high school but did not attend university. At age 15, she joined the Italian far-right organization 'Fronte della Gioventù' (Youth Front), possibly motivated by a desire to improve the harsh living conditions of underprivileged families. While working in political organizations, she held part-time jobs as a babysitter, bartender, and street vendor—giving her firsthand insight into everyday hardships. In 2008, at age 31, she became Minister for Youth and Sport in Silvio Berlusconi’s government, making her Italy’s youngest-ever minister.
