Oil and gas output at Karachaganak are closely linked, meaning the field cannot produce much oil if its gas production is down; raw gas from Karachaganak is normally delivered to the Orenburg facility for processing, so when the attack curtailed Orenburg’s capacity, Karachaganak was forced to curb both its gas and oil production.
