NetCore Cloud OEC Installation Configuration and User Experience

Origins Recently, I experimented with various bandwidth-monetization services—such as Tian Tang (Sweet Sugar) and Dian Xin Yun (Dessert Cloud)—but found their returns underwhelming. Observing the halved earnings of my running Profit Treasure Gen.3 devices compared to earlier models, I turned my attention to NetCore Cloud’s new products: the OEC and OES, dubbed “the韭菜 box” (a slang term implying users are being exploited like leeks). These products are currently subject to artificial scarcity marketing; the OES remains out of stock, so I opted to try the OEC first. Tinkering As mentioned, these devices are marketed via artificial scarcity: unavailable on the official website, while ocean-market resellers charge premium prices. Truly a leek-harvesting strategy—purchasing one isn’t easy. Fortunately, a recent livestream offered OEC units for sale, so I bought one for ¥363 to test its performance. Ordered at month’s start, it shipped mid-month—arriving ten days later. Unboxing This is actually my first time purchasing a brand-new device directly from NetCore Cloud; all previous units were second-hand, sold via their official site. Peeling off the plastic wrap and opening the box reveals the unit itself: a white plastic chassis—slightly more aesthetically pleasing than predecessors, though thermal dissipation is likely inferior to metal casings. This feels like a *reverse upgrade*... Extracting the unit, the overall plastic construction feels rather cheap—especially the front panel. It features only three ports: a Gigabit Ethernet port, a USB 3.0 port, and a power connector. Compared to the Profit Treasure Gen.3, it eliminates one USB port—but upgrades the remaining one to USB 3.0, which is acceptable. The absence of an HDMI port reduces post-mining utility, eliminating TV-box functionality. Overall, there’s still some incremental improvement. The most significant upgrade over prior models is the addition of an internal SATA drive bay. Removing the bottom cover exposes the bay; following instructions, I inserted a 2.5-inch SSD. The mounting holes align precisely, yet I remain concerned about heat buildup—adding an SSD into this plastic enclosure risks compounding thermal stress… To remove the SSD, simply pull the small tab handle—a pleasant surprise was discovering a Type-C port on the device. Its purpose remains unclear: Is it fully functional? Does it support video output? If fully featured, this unit retains considerable post-mining potential. Finally, accessories include only a power adapter and a Cat6 Ethernet cable. The adapter outputs 12 V / 2 A—surely excessive for this device’s actual power draw?

One-time events—such as asset impairment losses, restructuring expenses, and legal settlement costs—may have significantly impacted current-period profits, distorting the company’s short-term earnings performance.
