What did Trump announce regarding U.S. military action against Iran and the status of a potential deal?

Trump announced that Mideast allies have reached the 'outlines of a deal' to end the Iran war, and as a result, he agreed to cancel planned new U.S. strikes—stating the decision was 'subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL.' He specified the emerging agreement would include the 'Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT' and 'an end to Iran’s nuclear threat,' and noted Israel has agreed to join the U.S. in pursuing this agreement.

What role did Saudi Arabia play in influencing Trump’s decision to pause new strikes?

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman raised concerns during a Saturday phone call with Trump about potential U.S. escalation against Iran, specifically warning that strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure or critical civilian infrastructure could provoke retaliatory attacks on Gulf energy facilities; the crown prince sought clarity on Trump’s planned actions, and Saudi Arabia—while having recently joined the U.S. in striking Iranian-backed militia sites—has been actively urging both the U.S. and Iran to return to negotiations.
