Latest frontline report: Full-time news summary of the U.S.-Iran-Israel conflict on Day 12

【Answer 1】 I. Overview of Core Battlefield Developments This Period 1. Iran launched its 34th and 35th waves of military retaliation. Between the early hours of March 10 and 11, local time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted two successive high-intensity strikes under Operation 'True Promise-4', employing a saturation attack combining hypersonic missiles and drone swarms against key Israeli military targets on Israeli soil and U.S. military bases across the Gulf region. These operations have been officially confirmed by Iranian authorities. 2. The United States issued its first formal constraint on Israeli military action. On March 10, U.S. Presidential Envoy David W. Wirtz and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Israel for closed-door talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The U.S. side formally demanded that Israel immediately halt attacks on Iranian civilian energy and fuel storage facilities, explicitly opposing Israeli military actions exceeding the scope of bilateral coordination—further exposing public rifts between Washington and Tel Aviv (Axios News, Office of the Israeli Prime Minister). 3. The U.S. military carried out its most intense single-day air campaign since the outbreak of hostilities. According to the Pentagon’s March 10 announcement, U.S. forces deployed B-1B and B-52H strategic bombers, along with F-22 stealth fighters, striking 127 targets inside Iran—including underground missile silos, drone manufacturing plants, and IRGC command centers. This marked the largest daily ordnance drop and broadest geographical reach since the conflict began. 4. Spillover risks across the Gulf region continue escalating. Missiles or drones struck Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE, causing civilian casualties in multiple countries. Saudi Arabia reported additional civilian fatalities; Bahrain’s attack injured dozens of civilians (official statements from Gulf states’ foreign ministries, defense ministries, and health ministries). 5. Iran officially announced temporary navigation restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. On March 10, the IRGC issued an official statement imposing temporary navigation restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, banning vessels flying flags of the United States, Israel, or EU member states. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has issued relevant navigational warnings. 6. The Pentagon released U.S. military casualty figures for the first time. On March 10, the U.S. Department of Defense officially reported that, since the conflict began, 140 U.S. service members have been wounded in attacks—including eight severely injured—and 108 have returned to duty after treatment. U.S. Central Command separately confirmed seven U.S. fatalities in this conflict. 7. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released its operational assessment. On March 10, the IDF spokesperson’s office stated that, since the start of hostilities, it had destroyed 85% of Iran’s long-range missile production facilities and killed approximately 1,900 members of the IRGC and regular Iranian armed forces (a unilateral IDF claim unverified by Iranian sources). 8. The U.S. military redeployed THAAD missile defense systems from South Korea to the Middle East. On March 10, elements of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system and Patriot air-defense missile systems stationed in South Korea were urgently airlifted via C-5 and C-17 transport aircraft from Osan Air Base in Gyeonggi Province to the Middle East, to compensate for gaps in U.S. regional air defenses following Iranian strikes. 9. Global oil prices experienced extreme volatility. As of 06:00 Beijing time on March 11, light crude oil futures for April delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange closed at USD 118.70 per barrel—a daily gain of 2.3% and a cumulative increase of over 32% since the conflict erupted. That day, WTI crude futures briefly fell below USD 80 per barrel before closing down 11.94%.

How should we interpret the Houthi missile strike on Saudi Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran, which caused widespread damage?

【Answer 2】 I remain more focused on financial market implications. I specifically looked up the precise timing of the Saudi Aramco attack—and converted it to Beijing time: 04:23 a.m. on October 14, 2026. At that exact moment, Brent crude oil prices exhibited a clear, modest upward spike—indicating that capital markets reacted instantly and backed their assessment with real money. Saudi Aramco is the world’s largest and most profitable integrated oil and gas company. As a state-owned enterprise with over 81% ownership by the Saudi government, Aramco constitutes the very lifeblood of the Saudi economy—and serves as the primary source of government fiscal revenue. If its oil fields were truly devastated, the Saudi government would undoubtedly react with acute alarm—because this truly is their lifeline. Thanks to its vast idle production capacity, Aramco can rapidly ramp up output during global supply disruptions, effectively functioning as the ‘central bank’ of the global oil market; its production policies directly shape international oil prices. Institutional analysts—including Citigroup—assess that severe damage to regional oil and gas infrastructure could push oil prices to USD 120 per barrel. During earlier Strait of Hormuz closure crises, economists had already warned that oil prices could surge past USD 100. Following the attack, Saudi officials claimed the impact was ‘minimal’ and caused ‘little damage.’ Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki posted multiple updates on social media detailing the coalition’s defensive success, stating that six missiles and three drones had been intercepted and destroyed across multiple locations in Saudi Arabia that day. On the same day as the attack (October 13), the coalition announced retaliatory military strikes against fuel storage and transportation facilities controlled by the Houthis in Sana’a and Al Hudaydah, Yemen. At first glance, the situation appears manageable—limited losses, proportionate retaliation. Yet the problem lies in the fact that Yemen’s Houthi movement is famously dubbed the ‘flip-flop army’: chronically under-resourced, they fight with desperation and disregard for cost. Ultimately, Saudi Arabia—the wealthier, more exposed party—bears the greatest risk and loss.

Two Killed in Attack on Aramco Oil Field in Saudi Eastern Region

A drone strike on Saudi Aramco's Shaybah oil field killed two workers, though operations remained unaffected at the 1 million barrel-per-day facility. The attack underscores ongoing security risks to Saudi energy infrastructure posed by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
