Nylon 66 (chemical formula: C₁₂H₂₂N₂O₂) is a synthetic polyamide made by polycondensation of adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine. Nylon 66 is a semi-crystalline polymer, white to pale yellow solid, with high mechanical strength, wear resistance and chemical resistance. Its molecular weight is 226.31 g/mol, density is about 1.14 g/cm³, melting point is about 260-265°C, insoluble in water, soluble in strong acids such as formic acid and phenol.
Ascend Performance Materials declared force majeure on adipic acid due to cyclohexane feedstock shortages, potentially delaying orders until mid-September. This disruption affects North American nylon
Invista will close nylon 66 production plants in Martinsville, Virginia, and Gloucester, UK, to consolidate output amidst market competition. This restructuring impacts global polymer supply chains si
