Nylon 66 (chemical formula: C₁₂H₂₂N₂O₂) is a synthetic polyamide made by polycondensation of adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine. Nylon 66 is a semi-crystalline polymer, white to pale yellow solid, with high mechanical strength, wear resistance and chemical resistance. Its molecular weight is 226.31 g/mol, density is about 1.14 g/cm³, melting point is about 260-265°C, insoluble in water, soluble in strong acids such as formic acid and phenol.
