This discovery significantly improves the predictive accuracy of CO₂ conversion processes and uncovers an unexpected hydrogen reaction mechanism, potentially inspiring the development of more efficient catalysts. Published in Nature Communications, this research promises to aid scientists in designing more effective catalysts for converting CO₂ into useful products such as methanol. It also reveals a novel mechanism by which hydrogen participates in such reactions—challenging long-held assumptions about the underlying reaction process.
