Origin Energy’s Joint Venture APLNG Reports 7% Revenue Growth in First Quarter

On October 31, Origin Energy Ltd (ASX: ORG), a retailer of electricity and natural gas, reported a 7% increase in quarterly revenue from its Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) project, driven by higher oil prices and increased natural gas production. For the quarter ended September 30, Origin’s APLNG revenue totaled AUD 687.9 million (approximately USD 474.6 million), up 7.40% from AUD 640.5 million in the same period last year. This exceeded UBS’s prior estimate of AUD 672.0 million. APLNG—the largest LNG producer in eastern Australia—recorded a 3% increase in quarterly production to 66.5 PJ. Higher LNG output and a modest rise in realized average prices offset the impact of a slight decline in natural gas sales. APLNG is a joint venture formed by Origin Energy, ConocoPhillips, and Sinopec.
