Such activity can sometimes be identified through chart patterns; most critically, these stocks typically lack fundamental support. If retail investors participate, they immediately face an asymmetric capital contest. In the long run, not only do retail participants suffer—but even the manipulators themselves ultimately face inevitable failure when attempting to profit solely by detaching from fundamentals and artificially engineering price charts. A second category of initial driving capital possesses non-public information unavailable to others—so-called 'inside information,' such as major restructuring or acquisition announcements. For ordinary investors, such events (e.g., major restructuring) lie entirely outside current fundamentals and cannot be anticipated analytically beforehand. Moreover, restructuring processes involve substantial uncertainty, and acquired assets may include 'non-performing assets' (i.e., assets lacking profitability), making profitable participation extremely difficult. Thus, this approach is also beyond our control. A third category comprises initial capital that enters based on observed improvements in a stock’s fundamentals. This is analyzable. This scenario often produces major bull stocks. Third, expectation-driven appreciation—where fundamentals are currently weak, but certain capital anticipates future improvement. A major risk here is that expectations may fail to materialize—or may even reflect mere speculation by those very funds. When prices rise but earnings fail to follow, and anticipated growth signals never appear, the stock inevitably retraces fully to its prior level. A classic recent example: Over the past several years, repeated policy announcements supporting the 'two-child policy' generated bullish sentiment for infant- and childcare-related stocks. Capital anticipated rising birth rates and consequent demand growth.
