Poland's energy sector sees major consolidation, giving rise to a regional new-energy giant

Major news has recently emerged from Poland’s oil and energy sector: two leading Polish oil companies—PKN Orlen Group and Grupa Lotos—have merged. The merger process began in 2018 and was only recently finalized. Both companies are majority-owned by the Polish Ministry of State Assets, enabling them to form a joint venture that unifies their operations and strengthens their position through centralized management and enhanced decision-making authority.
