On April 7, Enel announced that its Peruvian subsidiary had signed an agreement with China Southern Power Grid International (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. to sell 100% equity stakes in two Peruvian subsidiaries engaged in distribution business and advanced energy services. The total consideration amounts to approximately USD 2.9 billion (about RMB 20 billion). The assets being divested by Enel in Peru are estimated to have an enterprise value of around USD 4 billion (approximately RMB 27.5 billion). China Southern Power Grid International Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid, primarily engaged in investment, development, construction, and operation management of international power and energy projects. Under the acquisition agreement, China Southern Power Grid will acquire 83.15% of the equity stake in Enel’s Peruvian distribution business and 100% of Enel X Peru. The announcement further emphasizes that this acquisition requires approval from Peru’s competent antitrust authority as well as Chinese regulatory authorities overseeing outbound investments.
