Industry Competitive Landscape and Key Enterprises (1) Global lithium resource supply is shifting from concentration toward diversification, with increasing variety in resource types; domestic lithium self-sufficiency is improving, and China’s pricing power in global markets is rising. Prior to 2019, Australia and South American brine deposits dominated global supply, and lithium products were highly concentrated among industry leaders such as Albemarle (U.S.), SQM, Ganfeng Lithium, and Tianqi Lithium. During the lithium price surge from 2020–2022, traditional producing regions struggled to meet surging demand, prompting a shift toward a ‘multi-regional, multi-feedstock’ supply structure. Africa and North America increased participation, while domestic projects—including spodumene initiatives in Sichuan and Xinjiang, and lepidolite projects in Jiangxi—emerged as new highlights. This trend weakened the dominance of Australian hard-rock and South American brine sources, lowering industry concentration. Domestic mining enterprises accelerated their expansion efforts; as these projects come online, China’s lithium self-sufficiency rate is rising, easing import reliance and potentially enhancing domestic enterprises’ global pricing power. (2) China’s lithium salt enterprises exhibit a ‘Two Supers, Multiple Strong Players’ competitive structure, and the lithium salt industry is experiencing rapid growth. As the world’s largest lithium salt production base, China has formed a ‘Two Supers, Multiple Strong Players’ competitive landscape. Ganfeng Lithium and Tianqi Lithium—backed by superior resources, high capacity, and large scale—rank firmly among global leaders, constituting the ‘Two Supers’.
