The Australian government has announced that it will invest $20 million to accelerate support for the development of its domestic plastics recycling indust.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the funding supports the government's plan to set a timetable to ban the export of waste plastic, paper, glass and tyr.
According to recent figures, Australia produces 103kg of plastic waste per capita each ye.
"We are committed to protecting our country's environment, while also improving our ability to 'turn waste into treasure'," Morrison sa.
"By attracting industry and researchers, we could see these changes help businesses reduce costs and even ultimately create jo.
Businesses have until September 24 to apply for this eighth round of fundi.
