The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to finance
wind power and battery storage projects in southern Thailand.
As part of the program, ADB will provide a $7.
2 million loan to developer Lomligor to build a 10 MW wind farm that will utilize a 1.
88 MWh pilot battery energy storage system
.
According to reports, starting this year, the project is expected to generate about 14,870MWh of electricity per year, while reducing the country's carbon emissions
by 6,364 tons.
In addition, the project is expected to increase the flow
of renewable energy to Thailand's domestic grid.
"This project helps Thailand set clean energy power development plan targets and demonstrates the potential to
provide clean energy for integrated renewables and batteries in southern Thailand," said Jackie B.
Surtani, ADB's Head of Infrastructure Finance for Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific.
This will increase the resilience of the region's power grid, provide energy security for communities, and support economic growth
across the country.
