[Application] n-octyl isothiazolinone products mainly include 2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one, 5-chloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 4,5-Dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one three kinds of isothiazolinones, of which 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3 -Ketone (DCOIO) is the most widely used
(1) Circulating cooling water treatment
In China, although there are not many cases of DCOIO used in industrial circulating cooling water, in the face of increasingly prominent water treatment problems such as drug resistance, and at the same time, to provide users with more and better bacteria and algaecides, DCOIO has begun to gain attention.
(2) Marine antifouling treatment
The attachment of marine organisms is a difficult problem for marine economic development.
The toxicity comparison between DCOIO and TBT ( Tributyltin ) , the most commonly used antifouling agent in marine ships , is shown in Table 7-18
Table 7-18 Toxicity study of DCOIO and TBT on organisms
Unlike TBT, DCOIO does not show chronic toxicity when its concentration is significantly lower than acute toxicity, while TBT when its concentration is lower than the detection limit of water analysis will cause the denaturation of periwinkle snails and thickening of the oyster shell; in addition, the metabolism of DCOIO The toxicity of the compound is more than 100,000 times less than that of the source compound, while TBT is only 50 times.
