On June 24, 2021, Avient announced the introduction of two new grades in its next-generation Barricade™ elastomer product line, expanding the hardness range, now ranging from 50 to 90 Shore
    A.

Developed in response to customer inquiries and application requirements in growing industrial and consumer markets, these new formulations address high temperature/low compression set performance needs over a wider range of hardnesses
    .

These crosslinkable elastomers are based on Fortrex™ technology licensed from Cooper Standard
    .
Compared to traditional TPEs, silicones and thermoset rubbers, they fill the gap between traditional TPEs and silicones with better design flexibility, easier processing, and lighter weight solutions

    .

The softest hardness in the product range, the new 50A grade, provides an exceptional tactile feel that enhances user comfort
    .
It provides a reliable alternative to silicone in a large number of consumer applications

    .
The stiffest product adds a 90A rating to provide a stiffer material that still provides flexibility in demanding industrial applications

    .

Matt Mitchell, Director of Global Marketing, Avient, said: "Market and application demands are constantly changing, and it is our responsiveness and deep formulation expertise to help our customers meet these challenges
    .
This product expansion is an example of our ongoing innovation process, where we focus on for solving customer problems with advanced materials science

    .
    "

All Barricade elastomers, customizable and colorable, are available worldwide, including the original 60, 70 and 80 Shore A grades
