Avient's new chemical-resistant material provides protection against pandemic-related disinfection

Avient Corporation, a leading provider of professional and sustainable material solutions and services, today announced the launch of three patent-pending grades targeting the point-of-sale and consumer markets

The new Edgetek™ ET8900 CR series formulations offer superior chemical and crack resistance to common consumer disinfectants compared to traditional alternative polymers such as PC/ABS, PC/PET and PC/PBT
.

These materials were developed to meet consumer and industrial market demand for materials that can withstand more cleaning and disinfection protocols
.
The formulations were tested for Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance (ESCR) using an adapted ASTM D543 method
.
Results showed that these materials performed better after exposure to common consumer disinfectants, including Lysol® All Purpose Cleaner, Formula 409® Heavy Duty Degreaser, and Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes, compared to traditional PC blend alternatives chemical resistance and performance retention
.
