Toray Advanced Composites (Toray Advanced Composites, formerly the Netherlands, acquired by Toray Group in 2018) will use BASF thermoplastic resins to produce continuous fiber-reinforced tapes for automotive and industrial applicatio.
Toray Advanced Composites (Morgan Hill, CA, USA) and BASF (Wyandotte, MI, USA) have signed a manufacturing and supply agreement to focus on the production of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic prepreg tapes for the automotive and industrial marke.
BASF has been an important partner of Toray Advanced Composites for many yea.
According to the company, the supply agreement increases production capacity and provides wider commercial availability of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials, which they say will enable the adoption of advanced materials in a range of lightweight structural components such as industrial mark.
"By developing innovative lightweight composite technologies for automotive applications, this partnership underscores the two companies' strong commitment to advancing sustainable solutions," said Jeff Dealemeida, Vice President, High Performance Materials Transportation, BASF North Ameri.
Toray Advanced Composites' continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic is said to be compatible with BASF's range of super-medium compounds, enabling the production of more efficient, versatile parts with fewer steps and less labor than conventional metho.
