    Biffa invests in new HDPE bottle recycling line

    UK-based waste management company Biffa is continuing its partnership with Italian recycling technology provider Amut
    .

    In 2020, Biffa opened a PET bottle recycling facility in Seaham, equipped with Amut's state-of-the-art, bespoke 4,000kg/h PET bottle recycling line capable of recycling 1.

    The facility converts PET from bundled raw materials into high-purity plastic pellets that are sold to beverage makers and other manufacturers for a range of applications from food and beverage packaging to apparel

    This year, Biffa turned to Amut again to supply machinery and equipment for its new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) expansion project

    The new line has a capacity of 2,000 kg/h and will recycle 1.
    6 billion milk bottles per year

    Martin Brass, Regional Engineering and Project Manager at Biffa, said: “Following their successful partnership with Anut at our state-of-the-art Seaham facility, we are delighted to be working with them again at our Washington facility where we will add a further 14,000 tonnes of HDPE plastic recycling capacity

    ” He added that the company hopes to quadruple its current plastic recycling capacity by 2030
