BIGYarns launches a PA6 yarn made from recycled materials

BIGYarns, a division of Beaulieu International in Welsbeek, Belgium, has launched EqoCycle – a PA6 yarn made from recycled material with a 75% recycled content and the same high-quality properties as virgin PA6 yarn

Mainly based on post-industrial waste, the new recycled yarn supports automotive and residential carpet manufacturers with a direct circular solution to reduce the ecological footprint of their final products

EqoCycle uses recycled pellets from pre-consumer recycled and recycled PA6 and is certified to Control Union's Global Recycling Standard (GRS)

Using less virgin material reduces fossil fuels by 58% and energy consumption by 27%

Customers can guarantee a savings of 13,562 barrels of oil and a reduction of 2,700 tons of CO2 emissions per 1,000 tons of EqoCycle yarn compared to PA6 made from traditional virgin materials

Emmanuel Colchen, managing director of BIGYarns, said: "EqoCycle is a perfect example of how greater resource efficiency in our industry can facilitate greater cycles in our customers' industries, minimising waste, reusing materials, and saving energy and carbon in production.
