Brazil's cash-strapped government auctioned off deepwater oil reserves on Thursday to raise a $2.
4 billion signing fee to secure much-needed funding
for a country struggling with economic downturn, according to Dow Jones Brasilia, March 31.

Brazil's federal energy agency ANP sold 22 of the 47 auction blocks along the Brazilian coastline, accepting bids more than seven times higher than
the lowest bid price.
An ANP spokesman said the remaining blocks would be auctioned
again in the future.
