According to the Asahi Shimbun, by 2040, Japan plans to add 30-45 GW of offshore wind capacity to reduce emissions and help achieve the goal
of carbon neutrality by 2050.
If this plan comes to fruition, Japan will become one of
the global leaders in offshore wind.
On Thursday, the Japanese government announced plans
after reaching an agreement with some companies.
These plans will form part of the green growth strategy and will be deployed
by the government at the end of the year.
Japan's Ministry of Trade and Industry did not comment on this

In 2018, the Japanese government passed legislation to promote the development of offshore wind power, but has not approved representative large-scale offshore wind power projects
since.
Some industry participants believe that the current Japanese government's investment regulations are too complicated

In October, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced that Japan would become carbon neutral by 2050, a major shift
to being considered the world's fifth-largest emitter of greenhouse gases.
