Official statistics show that France's total grid-connected solar PV capacity reached 8,766 MW
at the end of September 2018.
After commissioning 16,122 plants with a total installed capacity of 700 MW in the first three quarters of the year, France had a total of 418,330 grid-connected solar power plants by the end of September, adding 215 MW of new capacity
in the third quarter alone.
According to data provided by the French Ministry of Energy for Data and Statistical Research (SDES), the largest number of grid-connected PV plants put into service in September is located in the south of mainland France, mainly in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, New Aquitaine and Occitanie regions
.
From January to September, France's solar power generation accumulated 8.
1 TWh, an increase of 12%
year-on-year.
Over a nine-month period, photovoltaic power generation provided 2.
3% of the country's electricity demand
.
As of the end of September, France had 3,800 MW of solar projects under construction, of which about 1,100 MW had been contracted
for grid connection.
