    [Preparation]

    ① Cetylamine reacts with formaldehyde and formic acid to obtain tertiary amine, which is then quaternized with methyl chloride

    The dimethyl alkyl amine prepared by the above method is reacted with methyl bromide in the presence of a base to generate trimethyl alkyl ammonium bromide


    ② After bromination of cetyl alcohol, it is reacted with trimethylamine.

    [Application] Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide is a common cationic surfactant, which has the functions of sterilization, disinfection, emulsification, descaling, solubilization, etc.


    ① Used for microbial control and cleaning of circulating water system.


    ②Petroleum industry additives because cetyltrimethylammonium bromide can form a monomolecular film on the metal surface, thereby delaying corrosion


    ③Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, a cosmetic functional additive, can be firmly adsorbed on negatively charged hair, and the lipophilic long-chain alkyl group can make the hair smooth and soft, and eliminate the friction caused by the surface of the hair.
