China Nuclear Energy Corporation is interested in participating in the construction of
the "Berenai" nuclear power plant in Bulgaria.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of EU Funds and Energy Minister and other officials held talks
with representatives of China Nuclear Corporation.
It is reported that in the absence of state investment participation and long-term power procurement contracts, the implementation of the nuclear power plant project can operate
according to market principles.
China Nuclear Energy Corporation said that after the Bulgarian State Power Company fulfilled its obligation to pay fines to Russia, Атомстройекспорт, China Nuclear Energy Group was willing to participate in the project
according to the principle of market operation.
The commentary noted that the functioning of the market meant that assets could be divested from the project companies and privatization programmes
implemented.
