Covestro partners with Aquilaboards to use polycarbonate for electric surfboards

Covestro supplied the material for the injection-molded battery case, which is already being used in the new electric surfboa.

Bilbao-based company Aquilaboards uses Covestro's Bayblend FR3010 material for the battery casing of its electric surfboards, providing impact resistance, durability and flame retardant properti.

Bayblend FR3010 has higher heat resistance, impact resistance and stress crack resistan.

It's also dimensionally stable, as the battery must always fit completely in the socket to avoid water ingre.

In addition, Bayblend FR3010 achieves UL 94 Class V-0 in the Underwriters Laboratory's flammability test and V-1 at 2mm thickne.
