TDC, a leader in the Danish mobile subscriber market, has announced that it will begin phasing out 3G network technology at the end of 2022 to give it greater capacity to improve 4G and 5G services
    .

Andreas Pfisterer, CEO of TDC, said: "Given the current plans, if customers do not currently have access to 4G or 5G networks, then they will have at least two years to consider buying a new phone
    .
At the same time, no matter which phone or other device you use, it will be possible to continue to use our nationwide 2G network to provide voice and basic data services
    .

TDC noted that its 4G LTE network is the country's main mobile voice and data service network, while its new 5G network already covers 90% of the population at higher data speeds and supports new use cases
    .
The use of 3G has steadily declined as the number of 4G/5G-compatible devices has increased, and 3G networks are mainly used for voice and data services
in areas that lack 4G/5G reception.

Once 3G is shut down, TDC's 2G network will continue to be used for voice services in areas where no other networks are available, as well as basic data services
    on older devices.
Operators currently have no plans to
    shut down their 2G networks.
