Recently, DONG Energy announced that it will build Germany's fourth offshore wind farm, the 450 MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm

The wind farm is expected to be fully operational in the first half of 2019 and will be installed through Danish DONG Energy, with a total offshore wind capacity of 6.

The new wind farm will have Germany's largest wind turbine, an 8-megawatt wind turbine jointly produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Vestas, with a rotor span of 164 meters

The Borkum Riffgrund wind farm received planning permission back in December 2011, but now needs to be revised to approve the use of larger turbines
.
Once completed, the project will provide enough clean electricity
to 460,000 households in Germany every year.
