Dieffenbacher CompressEco press installed at Creative Composites

Creative Composites, based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, describes itself as "the UK's most advanced composites manufacturer"

    .

In 2017, the company decided to use Dieffenbacher's CompressEco series of presses for the production of SMC exterior parts in Class A surfaces, and in 2018 the first press was ordered and installed

    .

As of 2020, Creative Composites has two CompressEco presses in operation

    .

“A modular system that can support future expansion, and pressures up to 30,000kN, makes the CompressEco exactly the press we need

,” said Jonathan Holmes, managing director of Creative Composites.

During the molding process, eccentric forces can occur, causing problems such as uneven thickness of the part and high mechanical stress on the press

    .

Active high-speed parallelism control compensates for these eccentric forces by ensuring full parallel movement of the mold cavity

    .

This feature also allows one-shot molding of Class A surface parts using the direct in-mold coating (IMC) process and controlled gap mold opening

    .

When ordering the first press, Creative Composites agreed with Dieffenbacher that a second press of the same design might be ordered if the first produced the desired results

    .

“We are proud to have helped Creative Composites build a production system
    .
We believe this is one of the most advanced SMC press systems currently in use in the UK,

” says Dieffenbacher Sales Manager Steffen Maier, reflecting on both successes indicated at the time of the project
    .

In recent years, Dieffenbacher has further optimized the cost-effective concept of CompressEco and combined the advantages of CompressEco with the CompressLite and CompressPlus series in its new Fiberpress series
    .

Looking ahead, Maier said: "We are very much looking forward to working with Creative Composites again to help them meet new challenges with Fiberpress or other advanced solutions tailored for them
    .
