August 22, 2019 - DuPont Transportation & Industrial recently announced the great success of its partnership with ExxonMobil Chemical on specialty elastomers and the successful joint development of a new Santoprene for automotive corner-molded seals ™ (Santoprene™) thermoplastic vulcanizate series (TPV.

"Our partnership with ExxonMobil Chemical goes far beyond advanced elastomers," said DuPont Marketing Manager Christophe Pau.

Taking TPVs to the next level

To meet customer demand for higher corner-molded seals, ExxonMobil Chemical wanted to improve the adhesion of Santoprene™ elastomers to EPDM rubber while improving the product's slip properti.

The DuPont R&D team found that the synergy of the low molecular weight and ultra-high molecular weight silicone polymers was just enough to meet ExxonMobil Chemical's low coefficient of friction requiremen.
