The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a loan agreement to invest 100 million euros in two energy-efficient residential buildings
in Copenhagen, Denmark.
EIIB invests EUR 100 million in two green residential buildings in Copenhagen
The complex, comprising 6 blocks with a total of 660 apartments, will be developed
by property developer Fastighets AB Balder.
The new building will far exceed the national standards for near-zero energy buildings (NZEB), ensuring a model
for the future.
The two complexes are expected to achieve energy
savings of 764 MWh per year compared to existing building standards.
Denmark aims to significantly improve the energy efficiency of residential buildings through the NZEB standard and is close to its goal
of relying on renewable energy to meet 100% of its energy needs by 2050.
Alexander Stubb, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, said: "With this project, Fastighets AB Balder is ahead of the EU in terms of regulations and will have almost zero
energy consumption for all new buildings by 2020.
This is also in line with the EIB's energy and climate action targets and will help Denmark cut energy costs and improve housing quality
