Recently, Enel Green Power, a subsidiary of Enel Group, announced that it will start construction of the 34MW Ngongeye photovoltaic power station project
    .

The PV facility, the group's first power plant in Zambia, is located in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone in the south of the country and is part of the World Bank Group's Scaling Solar program run by the Zambia Industrial Development Corporation, which granted Enel the authority to develop, finance, build, own and operate the
    plant in June 2016.

The head of Enel's global renewable energy division said: "The start of the construction of the Ngonye solar power plant is a new milestone
in strengthening Enel Group's business on the African continent.
With its clean, sustainable and reliable electricity, the Ngonye project will play an important role in helping Zambia achieve its electrification goals, proving once again that renewable utility-scale power plants are the most efficient power supply solution
    on the continent.

Enel Group will invest approximately $40 million in the construction of Ngonye, which is expected to be completed
in the first quarter of 2019.

Once the PV project is up and running, it is expected to generate about 70GWh of clean energy electricity per year, avoiding the emission of more than 45,000 tons of carbon dioxide
    into the atmosphere every year.
