Recently, Enel said that its Peruvian subsidiary, Enel Green Energy Peru (EGPP), will start construction of Peru's largest solar project, the 180MW Rubi photovoltaic power plant
.
The company's first solar facility in Peru with a total cost of $170 million is funded
by Enel Group and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The solar farm will be able to generate approximately 440GWh of electricity
per year.
Enel has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement
with Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines.
Electricity from the plant will be supplied to Peru's National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN)
through the Montalvo substation.
Like some of Enel's other large-scale Latin American projects, EGPP runs a training program for local communities to recycle discarded wood from construction sites to build furniture
.
EGPP has also signed an agreement with local associations to promote production within the influence of the Rubi solar power plant and promote
grants for social projects.
