    On June 10, 2022, Helsinki time, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced a new batch of substances of very high concern (SVHC), and the SVHC list was officially updated to 224 items
    .

    The newly added SVHC substances are as follows:

    Substance name: N-(hydroxymethyl)acrylamide, N-(hydroxymethyl)acrylamide]

    EC number: 213-103-2

    CAS Number: 924-42-5

    Reason for listing: carcinogenicity; teratogenicity

    Common Uses: As a polymerized monomer; in paints and coatings
    .
     

    If an article contains N-(methylol)acrylamide, the manufacturer or importer of the article is obliged to complete the notification to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) within 6 months after June 10, 2022
    .

    According to the EU REACH regulations, if the content of SVHC in all products exceeds 0.
    1%, the situation must be explained to the downstream:

    ◆ If the content of SVHC in substances and preparations exceeds 0.
    1%, the SDS in compliance with EU REACH regulations must be transmitted downstream;

    ◆ If the content of SVHC in the article exceeds 0.
    1%, safety instructions for use must be sent downstream, including at least the name of the SVHC
    .
    Consumers can also make similar requests, and suppliers should provide relevant information free of charge within 45 days;

    When the SVHC content in the article exceeds 0.
    1% and the export exceeds 1 ton/year, the EU manufacturer, importer or only representative must also submit an SVHC notification to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency)
    .
    If it is a new SVHC substance, the notification obligation must be completed within 6 months after the substance is added to the SVHC list
    .

    In addition, from January 5, 2021, products exported to Europe containing more than 0.
    1% of SVHC substances must complete SCIP notification before they can be put on the market
    .
