Evian uses PET bottles made of 100% recycled plastic for the first time

Evian partnered with Loop Industries to develop a prototype bottle made entirely from recycled PET

The bottle, called the Evian Loop, will launch on a commercial scale in South Korea in 2022

In a press release, Evian said the bottle will be introduced to other markets someday

Loop Industries received some scrutiny last year

In October 2020, Hindenburg Research, a self-described "forensic finance research" firm, challenged some of Loop Industries' claims

In particular, Hindenburg Research noted that the company was characterized by "smog and no viable technology," according to disclosures by former employees

Evian, who has been with Loop Industries for four years, is clearly not among the skeptics

The company added that the Evian Loop milestone will bring it one step closer to its circular goal of 2025, when it pledges to make all of its plastic bottles from 100 percent recycled plastic, with the exception of caps and labels
