♦ Both parties form a strategic partnership to jointly bring this disruptive technology to market
♦ Pilot plant at Evonik's Hanau site
♦ The new process can save resources and reduce investment costs
A few days ago, Dow and Evonik Industrial Group have established an exclusive technology partnersh.
The method, called HYPROSYN™, has been laid by a team of more than 100 Evonik employees over the past few yea.
In 2018, approximately 9 million tons of propylene glycol were consumed globally for the production of polyester resins and deice.
"We are delighted to be working with Dow to bring the HYPROSYN™ process to mark.
“By the end of 2020, we will build a pilot plant at the Evonik site in Hanau, with mass production in a few yea.
In the traditional method, propylene oxide (PO) is converted to propylene glycol by wat.
· Expected to significantly reduce energy consumption while increasing producti.
· The HYPROSYN™ process combines all reaction steps into one reactor, eliminating the need to invest in capacity expansion for propylene oxi.
· Existing propylene glycol plants can be easily retrofitt.
· Processes only hydrogen peroxide and propylene as feedstocks, increasing flexibility and reducing overall investment cos.
"In addition to the potential licensing revenue, this partnership shows how we can create new application areas for hydrogen peroxide and makes us the supplier of choice," Träxler sa.
"We are delighted to be working with Evonik to bring this sustainable and innovative new technology to market," said Jon.
Evonik is one of the world's largest manufacturers of hydrogen peroxide, one of the two raw materials for the HYPROSYN™ proce.
