ExxonMobil expects its linear alpha-olefins plant to start production by mid-2023

Construction is underway at ExxonMobil's new linear alpha-olefin (LAO) plant at the Baytown petrochemical complex in Texas, with commercial operations expected to begin in mid-2023

When fully operational, the facility will have the capacity to produce approximately 350,000 tonnes of LAO per year

ExxonMobil said it will manufacture 10 high-purity LAO products at the plant, which will be sold under the "Elevexx" brand name

LAO molecules have a wide range of applications, including plastic packaging, high-performance motor and industrial oils, and as a component of surfactants and other specialty chemicals

ExxonMobil said its Baytown facility is the largest petrochemical complex in the United States and one of the most technologically advanced refining and petrochemical complexes in the world

Founded in 1919, the complex is located on approximately 3,400 acres along the Houston Ship Channel, approximately 25 miles east of Houston

The facility includes an oil refinery, chemical plant, olefins plant, plastics plant and technology center
