ExxonMobil makes first commercial sale of certified cyclic polymer

ExxonMobil has completed the first commercial sale of a certified circular polymer using its Exxtend technology for advanced recycling of plastic waste

The buyer is Berry Global, a leading supplier of innovative packaging and engineered products, which will use circular polymers to manufacture containers for high-performance food-grade packaging in a mass-balanced manner
.

The first sale of certified circular polymers is based on plastic waste processed at ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art recycling facility at its integrated facility in Baytown, Texas

The facility, which begins operations in 2021, has already processed more than 4 million pounds of plastic waste

The company has certified several facilities, including Baytown, through the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Upgrade (ISCC PLUS) process

ISCC PLUS is widely recognized by the industry as an effective system to demonstrate the circularity of products based on advanced recycling using mass balance attribution of plastic waste
