3D printing company Formlabs has introduced nylon 11 powder, a high-performance material suitable for functional prototypes and low-volume production

Nylon 11 powder is available on Formlabs' Fuse 1 Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) printer, enabling users to print parts that need to bend or withstand shock, such as hinges, clips, and orthoses

Historically, the high cost and complex workflow of industrial 3D printing have kept the technology out of reach for many companies

Formlabs said in its announcement that the Fuse 1 is designed to make industrial 3D printing more affordable and user-friendly, adding that materials are key to expanding the range of possible applications

Nylon 11 powder was developed to enhance design and creativity at a lower cost per piece
