From 2015 to 2016, China Unicom officially launched the bidding process
for interprovincial and intra-provincial trunk optical cables.
It is reported that the bidding is divided into two major projects: ordinary areas and cold areas, with 6,476 pico-long kilometers of new projects in ordinary areas and 5,025 pico-long kilometers of new projects in alpine areas, for a total of 11,501 pico-long kilometers

With the continuous advancement of trunk optical cables and the large-scale construction of 4G base stations, China Unicom and China Telecom are increasing new construction at the transmission level to meet the rapid growth of traffic, and public information shows that a large part of the capital expenditure of the two major operators this year is invested in the transmission side
