Nexans has been awarded a contract worth about €100 million from French grid operator RTE to supply and install 47 km offshore and 18 km onshore power output cable
for a wind farm located in the English Channel.

It is reported that the offshore wind farm has an installed capacity of 496 MW and is expected to generate an average of 2,000 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity
    consumption of about 850,000 people.

Developed by the consortium "Éoliennes en Mer Dieppe Le Tréport", the project is one of the
largest commercial offshore wind projects in France.
Its success is crucial as it will help the country combat climate change
    .

The project is fully in line with France's goals
for the energy transition, energy mix (including offshore renewables) and the country's energy independence.
RTE has been designated by the state to connect this wind farm from the offshore substation to the onshore grid by installing two 225 kV submarine and onshore
    paths.

For the subsea section, Nexans will supply two 23.
    5 km long 225 kV triple-core cables
    .
The cable features innovative new technology, hybrid armor, and incorporates fiber optic elements to remotely monitor the health of the link and transmit information
between offshore wind farms and onshore bases.
The cable will be laid by CS Skagerrak, one of the group's two cable laying vessels, together with the newly built Aurora
    .

The onshore path will consist of 18 km of 225 kV single-core cables, which Nexans supplies to RTE under the current onshore cable frame contract
    .
Nexans will also be responsible for cable embedding and protection
    in the onshore section.
The awarded contract includes business continuity services (inspection, maintenance, repair)
    for the entire project.

Nexans' plant in Halden, Norway, will produce submarine cables, while the land cables will come from Nexans' plant
    in Charleroi, Belgium.
The fiber optic components will be supplied
by the Norwegian plant in Lognan.
Installation of submarine cables should begin
in the second half of 2024.
