On May 29, news came from PetroChina Dushanzi Petrochemical Company that the functionalized solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber jointly developed by China National Petroleum Corporation, Tongji University and Dalian University of Technology has successfully completed industrial tests, achieving 35,000 tons per year.

Functionalized solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber is an important research content of the 2017 National Key R&D Program "Key Technologies for High-Performance Synthetic Rubber Industrialization" (2017YFB0307100).

After 4 years of technical research, the technical team composed of China Petroleum and Petrochemical Research Institute, Dushanzi Petrochemical Company, Tongji University, and Dalian University of Technology has broken through key technologies such as the design and screening of functionalized reagents and the stable control of the polymerization process, and has successfully realized Industrialization of functionalized solution polystyrene butadiene rubber SSBR72612F.

Functionalized solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber is another 10,000-ton production demonstration after bromobutyl rubber, narrow-distributed branched rare earth butadiene rubber, and star-branched butyl rubber.
