The German government's new round of plans will exceed its 2035 offshore wind target by 40 GW, reaching 50 GW
    of capacity.

To achieve this, Germany will provide 4GW of offshore wind capacity
    per year from 2027.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the coastal states of Hamburg, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, Bremen, North Rhine-Westphalia and transmission system operators TenneT, 50Hertz and Amprion have signed an offshore wind energy agreement to unveil the ambitious plan
    .

The new agreement updates the original agreement from 2020 onwards to reflect the higher expansion targets
    agreed earlier this year.
Under the plan, Germany aims to reach 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by the end of 2030 and further increase it to 70 GW
    by 2045.

Economy Minister Robert Habeck said the agreement was a strong joint commitment
to achieve the 30 GW target of electricity generation by 2030.
It contains a plan for the designation of maritime areas, environmentally friendly developments, specific timetables and milestones, and the necessary coordination and resources to expedite the
    approval process.
