The power purchase deal has been agreed with renewable energy developers CPC, Neoen and WPD, and is applicable to projects that
do not benefit from government subsidies.
Google said it was the first time it had bought subsidy-free renewable energy in Europe, suggesting that renewables are cost-competitive
in a growing number of places.

Google currently has 14 power purchase agreements in Europe for nearly 900 megawatts of wind and solar capacity
    .
Three new wind farms in Finland will be connected to the grid to power
    Google data centers in Hamina.

Google announced last year that it had achieved a 100% renewable energy procurement target
    .
As the business continues to grow, Google needs to buy additional renewable energy to maintain this level
    .

Google commented that the purchase of renewable energy not only aligns with its commitment to sustainable growth, but also reduces its impact
on volatile fuel prices by entering into long-term fixed-price contracts.

In a press release, France's Neoen said that Google will buy the entire production of Finland's 81 MW Hedet wind farm, for which Neoen owns 80% and Prokon Finland has a 20%
    stake.
The 18-turbine wind power project in Narpes, western Finland, is expected to begin construction by the end of 2018 and be completed
    by the end of 2019.
This will be Neoen's first project
    in Finland.
