Recently, the South Korean company Hanwha Compounds and SPC Packaging plan to jointly develop environmentally friendly biodegradable plastic materials based on polylactic acid (PLA)
.
Hanwha Compound stated that the final product should be easily decomposed in the soil and will be used as a packaging material for SPC products
.
It is reported that since the beginning of this year, Hanwha Compounds and SPC have been conducting PLA-based research
.
Hanwha Compounds stated: “While maintaining the excellent processing properties and rapid decomposition of PLA, the blending technology of Hanwha Compounds also makes up for the shortcomings of being easily broken compared to general plastics
.
Hanwha Compounds is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hanwha Solutions, which was formed by the merger of Hanwha Chemical, Hanwha Q CELLS and Hanwha Advanced Materials in January 2020
