The Hong Kong Environmental Campaign Committee (Environmental Games) recently held a "Plastic Free FUN Market" event in Tai Kwun, Central, with the theme of "Plastic Free" (plastic free: no plastic products), in response to World Environment Day and World Oceans D.
At the same time, the second phase of the "Takeaway plastic tableware first" promotion plan was launch.
These restaurants include more than 630 branches of more than 30 catering companies, as well as more than 50 canteens and restaurants located on the premises of the SAR governme.
Under the promotion plan, citizens can get 1 stamp if they do not ask for disposable tableware when purchasing takeaway meals at participating catering companies and restauran.
In addition, the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department will implement the "Plastic Free Beach Cutlery First" 2019 campaign throughout the swimming season, urging beaches and surrounding restaurants to avoid using or distributing single-use plastic cutlery to prevent single-use plastics from falling into the ocean and polluting the environme.
"Plastic Free FUN Market" brings together nearly 30 SAR government departments, NGOs, green groups, colleges and universities and community organizations to promote "plastic free" through activities such as environmental protection booths, expert sharing, workshops on upgrading environmental protection, and music performanc.
