Recently, Huawei Marine announced that it will work with Greenland Telecom to deploy a 100G submarine cable network in Greenland to build a new channel
connecting data centers in Europe and the United States.
When completed, the project will set the industry's northernmost record
for deploying 100G.
Greenland is separated from Iceland and Canada across the strait, and more than 80% of the island is located within the Arctic Circle, with snow all year round, and the harsh natural environment requires extremely high equipment stability
。 The existing submarine cable system Greenland Connect (GC) connects Iceland, Canada and Greenland, and Huawei Marine and Greenland Telecom will work together to replace and update the terminal station equipment of the GC system and expand 100G capacity, and the new Greenland Connect North (GCN) submarine cable transmission system will connect Nuuk, Maniitsoq, Sisimiut and Aasiaat across 64° to 69° north latitude of extremely cold regions, reaching within
the Arctic Circle.
By deploying a new generation of OTN-based offshore and land platform transmission equipment, Huawei Marine will provide Greenland Telecom with advanced 100G solutions to achieve non-blocking scheduling and unified management
of GC and GCN dual-network system services.
After the completion of the network, the GC network system capacity can be upgraded from 1.
9T to 12.
8T, increasing the international bandwidth between Greenland and Europe and the Americas, and a new network GCN with a design capacity of 4.
8T can be built to meet the communication needs
in Greenland.
